Pop Icon Susan Cowsill and Band Travel to Rwanda: Documentary in Development With Noel Donnellon
London, UK (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- "RHYTHM FROM THE RAINS" is a 52' Documentary film in development which will chronicle the journey of The Susan Cowsill Band from New Orleans to Western Rwanda with the purpose of setting up a band at the Imbabazi orphanage, home to over 130 children, founded by the late Rosamond Carr (1912-2006).
The film will start in New Orleans and tell the back-story of Susan Cowsill, who made her initial mark on popular culture at the tender age of eight with The Cowsills, the 60s family pop group that not only scored Top Ten singles The Rain, the Park and Other Things, Hair and We Can Fly but also served as the real-life inspiration for TV's fictional Partridge Family.
After losing her home and possessions when Hurricane Katrina destroyed her city, New Orleans, Susan later learned that her beloved brother Barry had lost his life in the storm's aftermath.
"Cowsill's song Crescent City Snow is the anthem we have all been waiting for," according to Wet Bank Magazine.
Cecil Doyle, Music Director, KRVS said, "I've yet to hear a more personal and heartbreaking tune composed in the wake of the catastrophe."
Susan Cowsill was also named "Best Female Vocalist" by New Orleans' OffBeat Magazine.
Now in 2008, Susan and her band will be traveling to the Imbabazi orphanage in Rwanda at the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes National Park ,on a goodwill tour to help set up a band at the orphanage founded by the late Rosamond Carr, friend and confidant of Dian Fossey.
The documentary will be directed and photographed by Noel Donnellon who's credits include Irish Unit Cinematographer on the 2007 Oscar® Nominated documentary feature film Deliver Us From Evil and Head of the Video Department for Steven Spielberg on Saving Private Ryan among many others.
The film will be produced by VooDooDog based in London, England who's many credits include their Emmy® nominated title sequence for the HBO Films feature The Life And Death of Peter Sellers starring Geoffrey Rush.
Currently we are looking for sponsorship to fund the project from individuals or companies who believe in the power of music to make a difference in the world.
